Loch Sunart from Kilcamb Lodge earlier this weekHead of Loch Sunart from Strontian Jetty

Welcome to our first Kilcamb Diary entry. We hope you find this an informative way of keeping up to date with daily and weekly events at our ‘highland hideaway’. We aim to update you all with regular information on weather, local information, wildlife, forthcoming events & news as well as special offers and promotions.

Weather Watch

As other parts of Scotland have been Snow-bound with difficult conditions we are glad to report that in Ardnamurchan and the village of Strontian this has not been the case at sea-level. All this week we have enjoyed cold, bright crisp days with intermittent cloud and good visibility. Although we have snow on the hills and higher peaks the lower level walking is good.

As early Spring approaches it is the perfect opportunity to get out and about and enjoy the wonderful forests and trails that Ardnamurchan has to offer. We are always happy to recommend paths and trails within the local area or if you prefer a day tour taking in local sights we can help you there too.

Weekend Weather; Saturday & Sunday look to be bright clear days with sunshine and temperatures of 5°c and 4°c respectively with moderate visibility.

Otter Watch

Our owners David & Sally Fox have continued their Otter Watch on Loch Sunart this Winter. January and February’s cold and still weather has proved perfect for keeping an eye on the Otter population of the Loch. Their most memorable sighting was around 3.3opm one afternoon when they spotted a mother and cub (or male & female) frolicking and fishing! The pair were very affectionate and lingered for about 12 minutes mainly on the surface, before diving and not resurfacing again. David & Sally have seen many sightings this year and it is great to know that Otters are flourishing here on Ardnamurchan.

News Watch

Our ‘hidden highland gem’ is full of excitement and preparation for our exclusive event later this month for the International Gastronomic Society of The Chaine des Rotisseurs. Kilcamb Lodge was very proud to become members of this elite worldwide organization earlier this year which has members in over 70 countries. The Chaine’s goal is to bring together professionals and non professionals to celebrate their passion for fine cuisine and wines.

We look forward to hosting their Gala Black Tie Gourmet Dinner… more news on this very special event later!
