The Summer season has finally got underway here at Kilcamb Lodge, and we are enjoying some wonderful weather on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.  Staffa (pictured) is a popular "must see" sight for visitors to Kilcmab Lodge. it is a delightful day trip from the hotel and is the place where Puffins nest from May to July and where guests can visit and see these enchanting and very friendly little birds in their natural habitat. Staffa is also famous throughout the world for its cave. It was the inspiration for the famous music by Felix Mendelssohn, who was completely overwhelmed and inspired by his visit to the Hebrides in 1830.  Mendelssohn wrote the opening phase of his overture on a post card which he sent to his sister, Fanny. On it he wrote; "In order for you to understand how inspirational this palce has been, I send you the following..."

All our guests who visit Staffa return with similar feelings, The Puffins fly onto the island and allow you to get very close to them, they are fearless of humans and it really is a very unique and special experience.
