What an end to the year it has been for the hotel. With a blend of beautiful scenery, romance and some wonderful accolades for Kilcamb Lodge, we are ending on a high note at the 2016 Best Loved Hotels and Condé Nast Awards. We always aim to offer unique and truly special breaks here in Ardnamurchan, but it is still wonderful to be recognised officially as one of the best hotels in Scotland and the UK as a whole. So what did travellers and judges enjoy best?
Something to Bark About
From day one at Kilcamb, we have always prided ourselves on the welcome we give to pet owners. Indeed, perhaps the biggest pain in the paws for so many of those who enjoy travelling in Scotland is the tricky prospect of finding dog friendly accommodation that doesn’t resemble, well, a dog’s breakfast for want of a better term. So you can probably understand why we were delighted with the title for Best Pet Friendly Hotel at the 2016 Best Loved Hotel Awards.
Should you need further evidence, well, we suggest you book in for a tail-wagging time with us. With so many great walks and wild places to explore with your best friend, the Highlands have to be one of the best dog friendly holiday locations in the UK.
Something to Wine About
If one award was impressive enough, it is with huge pride we also bring news that Kilcamb’s wine list made it into the top 3 in the whole UK at the recent Condé Nast Hotel Wine Competition. Our selection of wines was highly praised for its quality and variety by the critics. Of course, wine is a big part of the Kilcamb experience and we take time & effort to offer a host of delicious wines from around the globe to match chef’s tasty food offerings.
Our wine list is set to get even better for the 2017 season as we re-tweak and make a few vibrant & appealing updates. We shall certainly look forward to offering you some of our vino – old & new – during your next visit to Kilcamb Lodge. We are always listening to your feedback on this score, with Vionta Albarino from Spain & Ben Marco Malbec from Argentina (below) among our most popular current wines.
December Malt of the Month
Of course, besides distinguished reds and white, we also pride ourselves on being one of the best whisky hotels in West Scotland, with an excellent selection of the good stuff for guests to sip, sample and discuss. As for our December Malt of the Month, our 12-year-old malt from Ancnoc is certainly worth a wee dram. This vibrant yet polished Speyside whisky is a real gem and combines character & complexity with a refined softness that will almost certainly leave you fancying a second helping. An ideal way to see in the New Year! Slainte!

Winter Weddings & Valentines Day
Ever considered the prospect of holding your wedding in the colder months? It isn't as crazy as it sounds, judging by the increasing number of winter weddings in Scotland. We recently enjoyed a memorable November winter wedding at the hotel and look forward to hosting another memorable wedding in mid-December. Guests are advised to wrap up a little warmer, but it can be a truly sparkling time of the year to get married and the scenery certainly never disappoints.
If you are thinking of Kilcamb among your potential winter – or indeed summer – wedding venues then do take a look at our dedicated wedding section. We would be delighted to discuss your needs and the wedding packages available over a coffee here at the hotel whilst showing you round our beautiful bedrooms and pretty hotel grounds.
On the subject of weddings and romance, Valentine's Day is also slowly creeping up on us! Forgive us for being so early, but this tends to be a really popular time, so do contact us now if you fancy booking in for a romantic Valentines getaway in the West Highlands. With Kilcamb regularly listed as one of the most romantic hotels & locations in Scotland your other half is bound to be mesmerized. Romance is always in the air at Kilcamb!
