Colourful Autumn Breaks in West Scotland

September Greetings to everyone! Hopefully you have all enjoyed a super summer and are now ready to embrace the autumn period with all of its colourful natural magic. It has been great to see so many visitors and guests coming to Kilcamb and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula of late, but there is still so much more to look forward to over the autumn months. Whether it's a long haul autumn break, or a well-deserved staycation, Scotland makes a glorious destination in September and October.

The autumn tends to be dry and sunny up here in the West Highlands, with cool crisp mornings giving way to warm, still afternoons. It can be a great time of year for walking holidays, roaming as you please without extremes of temperature. That said, you can soak in some pic views and wonderful autumn sunsets right from the hotel on calm evenings. (Put one or two of the autumn mist photos here) And…just in case the temperatures drop at all I’ll have a wee dram at the ready for you. Speaking of which….

Manager's Malt of the Month for September

My choosen Malt of the Month for September is Talisker, a memorable offering from the Isle of Skye and a true classic. Produced in the beautiful village of Carbost on Loch Harport on Skye's central western coast, Talisker is big and smoky with subtle maritime flavours leading to a rich, slightly peppery finish. Definitely a malt we would recommend!

Chef's Awesome Assiette

Another great reason to enjoy autumn breaks in Scotland is the excellent food and drink. With harvest time comes perhaps the best time of all to plan Highland foodie breaks. Once again, our kitchen team never rest on their laurels, and Head Chef Gary Phillips and his cohorts have added another enticing seafood dish to our renowned Kilcamb menu.

During the autumn, guests can enjoy a delicious Assiette of Seafood that features all manner of local delights such as crab, lobser, oysters and mussels. Why not have a glass of fresh Spanish Albarino or some French Champagne to accompany this taste of heaven?

Autumn Highland Walking Breaks

It is no surprise that the Western Highlands offer superb walking opportunities and the autumn is a great time to be out enjoying the magnificent scenery. With nature providing an array of magical colours and with the roads and routeways that wee bit quieter there is no better time to be out walking and exploring.

You could keep to the beautiful local hills and beaches of Ardnamurchan, or indeed venture a little further. My colleague Vit recently enjoyed a refreshing trip to Skye and the western fringes of Ardnamurchan recently, taking the oppurtunity to snap some excellent pictures in the process.

So, whichever places you wish to explore, why not pencil in a scenic walk or two during your stay at Kilcamb? We can even organise a packed lunch for you to enjoy en route, while the team and I will be delighted to recommend the best walks and places to see in Ardnamurchan. Lets get out there!
